Who We Are

When Columbia Dance Academy opened in 1998, a lifelong dream was realized for its owner and director, Millie Landers. The studio has grown steadily, now serving more than 375 students from Maury County and the surrounding area. In fact, CDA is honored to be teaching the second generation of our earliest dancers!

Collectively, the CDA staff brings decades of experience to their classes. Our underlying goals in all we do are to challenge our dancers in their technique and to coax and entice their passion for dance. We work to encourage self-expression and build self-confidence while creating an environment that strengthens physically and nurtures artistically. All of this happens daily during our regular classes, but at CDA, we hope to inspire our students to push themselves even further. They have opportunities to become leaders through their participation in the Advanced Studies program; to attend conferences and experience instruction under some of the dance industry’s leading professionals; and to perform in various community activities throughout the year. The season culminates with the spring recital highlighting all of our dancers in an artistic extravaganza.

In short, Columbia Dance Academy is recognized as being foundational for artistic expression in Maury County…for the past twenty-five years and well into the future!

My daughter has been a student at CDA since she was 5 years old. She is now 13 and has such a passion and love for dance (both the art and the sport) that it is hard to adequately put it into words. She’s decided she would like to dance in college, and I believe she will be well-positioned to do so, given the high-level dance instruction she receives at CDA. From my family’s perspective, CDA represents a great financial value and represents a true gem in Middle Tennessee. I highly recommend it.

"My daughter has Down syndrome. She has been dancing at CDA for 4 years. As a special needs mom, I was so worried about finding a dance studio that would accept my daughter. CDA never hesitated one bit about having her dance there. She was accepted from the very beginning, and they accommodated her needs with extra help and support, allowing her to dance and learn from all of her typical peers. This has meant the world to our family!"

"The recital is something to behold! Most remarkable is the organization, effort, thoughtfulness, and genuine
care CDA has for your dancer. It’s full of tasteful costumes, music, and dance moves, while putting on a show that will have the audience dancing in their seats, clapping along, or maybe even shedding a tear, depending on
the number."
